School Site Council

The School Site Council (SSC) plays an important role for each school site. It is a decision-making body that represents all educational partners of the school community. The school principal, teachers and other school personnel, parents and students (only secondary) make up this group. The SSC members are elected by their peers (i.e. parents elect parents) and meet four times throughout the school year.

At a minimum, the School Site Council will:

  • Develop, evaluate and approve the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), including the proposed expenditures of funds, Needs Assessment, and Annual Evaluation.
  • Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of the school's parent and family engagement.
  • Review and approve the Home-School Compact.
  • Provide input on the Local Control Accountability Plan.
