Dr. David A. Hernandez

I'm glad you've dropped by my web page. My name is Dave Hernandez, and I'm pleased to be returning again this year to teach at The Heights. It will be my 13th year teaching in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Prior to my arrival in this District, I taught for nine years in the Whittier City School District...and I won't say how many years in Canada before that (or I'd be dating myself). Suffice it to say that I've taught every grade/age from kindergarten through doctoral students, and my teaching preference is kindergarten!

I'm very honored to be your child's teacher and to be entrusted with the awesome responsibility of being a part of your child's academic and social-emotional growth this year. I look forward to teaming with you in order to provide your child with a wonderful kindergarten experience.

If you are interested, my educational background and credentials are listed below. I've also included links to four articles published about me. The other link is an article I was contracted to write in 2002 for CBC News Online for a special feature on Canadians who have relocated to work outside Canada. It's a personal reflection of my journey from Canada to the U.S. (The top picture in that CBC News Online article is my being buried in the sand by my sister and her two children, my nephew Caleb and niece Bethany.)

If you need to contact me for any reason, please do so by e-mail at dhernandez@nmusd.us or by telephone at (949) 515-6970.

Cheers!
